English Learning tips. Part 1

ree

ere are many different ways to learn a language. The best way to learn a language is to first set a realistic goal.. Setting language goals helps you to have a target to reach for. With a clear target in mind it helps to track your own progress that way you won't feel overwhelmed while learning.

Step one, think about your language goals. What do you want to accomplish? Are you learning for a new job? do you want to improve your English to get a promotion at work? Are you learning because you want to relocate to a new country? Or do you just want to improve your English.

Whatever your learning goals it's important to have a starting point. We recommend starting at the basics. It's okay to start at a level that's a little easy and work your way up to a level that is more difficult. Many people make the mistake of thinking that because they learned a language when they were younger. They already have a strong base. So when they begin learning they choose a level that is much too difficult for them, this results in the learner becoming discouraged and in most cases giving up I recommend starting at the basics, There is nothing wrong with starting at the basics it's a good chance to give yourself a refresher and to help your language centres warm up before tackling more difficult language goals.

Many websites offer resources to do a self-assessment. a lot of these websites will ask for money or link you to online classes. I find that one of the best free online self-assessments is offered by the government of Canada.(https://www.canada.ca/en/public-service-commission/services/second-language-testing-public-service/self-assessment-tests.html) This test will give you a rank of either a b or c and will help to provide a general idea of where your English level is at without taking any kind of official test or spending any money. These results can be used to give you a starting point on your journey to refresh or to learn English for the first time.
